After five years of performing a show on the Thursday evening prior to the rally weekend we felt it was time to hand over to someone or something new – and a wonderful all women acapella group from Oxford we knew seemed like an excellent option. They have now done a show for the rally twice and continued our tradition of selling out the Thursday evening!
Kate has taken on a more sharing stories on the ground, alongside anhistoric boat, – this year involved chasing the little shade there was around the bridge over the marina entrance.
A highlight of the show was Sam West, son of Tim West and Prunella Scales unveiling a plaque celebrating all that his parents contributed to the waterways. In 2017 we presented Prunella with a Waterways National Service badge – the famous one that led to Susan Woolfitt titling her book Idle Women and all the myths that generated!
So, we thought we should continue the tradition and make Sam’s partner, the playwright Laura Wade, an honorary trainee as well.
